Well Womens Guide to Essential Oils and Making your own Natural Fragrance

Making your own fragrance is very simple and of course you can tailor them to make your own signature scent and be completely original.
I have only made one or two so far but know that there are many more that can be made.
I have only 3 “proper” fragrances that I truly love. Two by Philosophy called “Pure Grace and “Amazing Grace” and the Nina Ricci classic, “L’Air Du Temps” so you can see the type of pure fresh “like soap” kind of scent that I love. To me they are the very essence of femininity. I am very particular about scent and won’t buy anything just for trend or succumb to fashion.
I have found many scents make me feel ill and one of these is “Eternity” by Calvin Klein which I have never owned but was approached by a sales assistant to try years ago in a department store. Everyone is different. Scent is a very personal thing and what suits one person may not suit another. I also like J-Lo “Glow”, but not her other fragrances and Kenzo “Summer”.
Before you spray your favourite fragrance however, think about this. There are sometimes as many as 200 chemicals in any one scent to make up the particular smell and research has shown that some of these are carcinogenic. Since it is impossible to find out what the exact ingredients are from the packaging and most of them are synthetic, (due to the makers refusing to give the “recipe” in case it is copied) care should be taken. Some of the compounds have been discovered in human tissue and breast milk.
Whilst I am not suggesting that you give up your much treasured fragrance which is one of our luxury items, and I certainly won’t, but cutting down on it is advised. (Keep for special occasions or use once a week or at weekends)
Instead of home air fresheners, plug in fragrance and other artificial scents, use fresh scented flowers or organic essential oils with an oil burner or diffuser ring to scent your home. Throw open windows to let fresh air in (unless you live by a very busy road)
