Well Women Guide to Natural Anti-ageing from the inside out

Natural anti-ageing, is there really such a thing?
When we hit our mid thirties we start to notice the inevitable signs of ageing. As we gallop into our forties, we start to look in the mirror with increasing despair. Where does the time go and where are our youthful looks? You seem to wake up one morning and they have gone….forever?
Before I was finally diagnosed with the Thyroid condition, I remember looking in the mirror and wondering what was happening to my face. I applied all the big brand names in expensive anti-ageing technology, in fact I was The "Queen" of all products, but my skin only seemed to look worse.
Autoimmune disease is very destructive to our looks (just take a look at the symptoms list for them) mainly because our immune systems are impaired. No matter what fancy anti-ageing cream we use, it is not going to make a difference, believe me.
So, what will?
Living with chronic illness means that we need to make a lot of effort to simplify our food, beauty products, and to take supplements more than most in order to improve our conditions. Natural, chemical free beauty, anti-ageing and bodycare products, additive free food and supplements will not only benefit us, but will also improve our looks over time, not only our skin, hair and nails, but our general wellbeing too. It stands to reason that if we are deficient in certain vitamins, enzymes, amino acids or minerals then combined with our condition, it is going to show on us and we are hardly going to look the picture of health. We have to fight harder to stay young looking than our fellow healthy women. It has taken me years and probably a small fortune in face creams to realise that the chemicals in these "scientific" formulars are wrecking my skin rather than improving it.
Basically, we need to “anti-age” from the inside out and all the expensive creams on the market will do nothing long term as you are applying chemicals to you face and if you are not healthy on the inside what difference will they make?. We need natural chemical free products and the benefits of these are quick to show on us. Most of all, we need certain supplements that are guaranteed to make a difference. I am still building the products page, as there is rather a lot of them mentioned on this site, but below are my favourite anti ageing supplements, products and superfoods that work and I feel make a real difference. This will be added to, as there are many more and also ones I have yet to discover. There is a lot we can do to anti-age ourselves and the results are long term.
Lifestyle changes are usually needed too such as reducing the amount of burned or smoked foods, foods containing additives and highly processed foods.
Heavy metal build up contributes to the ageing process such as mercury in fillings and aluminium from cookware.
Exercise is important too, but don't overdo it as evidence shows that too much is as bad as too little. Evidence also shows that those who spend all their time in a gym do not have a greater chance of living longer and that marathon runners and athletes age more quickly. This is because too much exertion generates inflammation and excess free radicals in the body.
In fact evidence also shows that the people who live the longest are positive thinkers who are hard working and adaptable. They eat a simple uncomplicated diet, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Their intake of processed food is nil and always make sure they eat breakfast.
Those who have a negative outlook on life age more quickly. Live life with joy and enjoy every moment. Accept yourself (and others) for the way you are and know that you always do your best. Stop striving for perfection as perfection is impossible.
Avoid sugar. Sugar ages the skin as much as smoking and the sun. Find other ways of sweetening. (Avoid aspartame and saccharin or any artificial sweeteners or products containing them)
Avoid hydrogenated fats, fried food, artificial additives flavourings colourings and preservatives, especially MSG (monosodium glutamate)
Reduce alcohol intake and also caffeine.
Fit a water filter under your sink. Tap water contains contaminates such as fluoride, chlorine and hormones!!
Cut down on sodium based salt. Use Himalayan Crystal Salt or Celtic Sea salt. (they are rich in organic minerals)
Try to make sure your diet is 50 per cent vegetable (raw if you can) 20 per cent fruit and 20 per cent protein (meat eggs cheese fish) 10 per cent grain.
The herb, Thyme is highly antioxidant, so try to eat more of it as well as using the oil for its therapeutic and anti ageing properties.
Natural chemical free hair, body and beauty products, including natural fluoride free toothpaste If we are not putting chemicals on our skin, then it will improve and not be suffocated by all the expensive prestige brand creams which actually affect the natural detoxing of our skin on a daily basis.
A simple cleansing routine using natural products from any of these companies: Purenuffstuff, Handmade Naturals, Essential Care (my favourite) and Dr Hauschka (another favourite). Rinse face clean with iced natural mineral water and use a pure flower water as a toner
